I need advice on hard/software needed to
connect my system to my computer so i can record/edit my mixes. I'd also like to put my vinyls in mp3 and/or burn them to CD so I can know my tracks better. I have to tech 12's, 2 denon dns1000's and a 4-station stanton mixer. My computer is a p3 with a decent sound card. What do i need to get, and where? Please advise. -Wrex |

any ol recording software should do...
i use wavlab or peak usually... but i'd recomend using a proffessional mixer with seperate outs for recording, and booth. that way you can turn your volume up or down without effecting the mix output. i'd also recomend running the mix through a pre-amp. that will make the biggest difference in sound. and don't forgot to normalize when yer done. |

It's pretty bloody cheap to record a mix
connect the recording out of your mixer to your soundcards in (you might need something to convert rca to 1/8 " or whatever) check your levels and settings hit record in the program (You can even get a free one like Audacity) save the file |

alot of better soundcards have built-in pre-amps even, so you can adjust the level before it gets recorded... I know mine has RCA in with a line-level pre-amp, as well as TRS and XLR inputs. |
