 Coolness: 53635 | If you played the first game go see it. Nice effects i am usualy not for computer animated effects and stuff but this was good.
Warning! Cheese text most of the time. Gave me the impression of watching a play on a big screen instead of a stage at some points. Not so very well placed soundtracks in some parts of the movie, could have been better. Lots of gore :D . Lack of the typical drama of the series, you get it here and there but not trough out the entire movie. The characters don't grab you much. IMO the best so far remake of a game, despite the issues. I'd give it a 6.5 on 10. Don't watch it if you don't know anything about the games, wait for the DVD to rent. Not amaized yet not disapointed. Watch it at your own risk. |

 Coolness: 40000 | The FX and audio are very good, but some of the acting and the dialog is just cringing. What the hell made them think it would be a good idea to add in shakespearian language and that whole "cult" thing. Trying to explain it all nice and simple for the masses, the whole point behind silent hill is that what happened and what's going on to the protagonists is shrouded in ambiguity and mystery. The main character is too much of a screaming irritation, they should have told her to shut up and just LOOK terrified (but I guess the average joe wont understand that someone is firghtened without the bouts of screaming) . The girl just doesnt know how to act even remotely scary, all the inhabitants of silent hill really don't have a clue on how to act spooky (or act at all) actually the only people who did a decent job was the husband and the policeman, for the two least important roles in the movie.
Lots of cool CG scenes though. |

 Coolness: 41625 | I found the movie had a really nice esthetic touch and even though Demezriel is right on the protagonist part in the scenario, the movie was really close to the game. For example, the scene at the beginning in Silent Hill with the devil-babies had the same camera moves as the first game. I remember how I was impressed about that when I was playing it on playstation...
SPOILERS AHEAD : I'm still a little confused by the ending though... Are they dead or just in another dimension? And is the little girl, the lady's daughter or the devilish incarnation? |
