Was anyone else from this site there?

Cars were trashed, bottles broken, beer and spirits guzzled, police taunted, garbage lit aflame, pedestrians terrified, rocks were thrown, pepper sprayed, arrests made....

basically, it was one hell of a good time!

police brutality ??? you mean people are protesting against police brutality here in montreal ??!!

i've never liked policemen before coming to montreal... but they're so smart and nice here !

i think it's stupid to provoke something you're protesting against when it doesn't even exist before... (or are there really police brutality cases here in montreal ?!)

As long as you look, act, and dress "respectively", you'll probably never have problems with the Montreal police....but those that (for whatever reason) choose to dress alternatively, hand out on street corners, or engage in other non-normative behaviours are frequently targeted for harassment by the pigs. There have also been a few suspicious deaths involving the police. I think that everyone, even if they are not the subject of police harassment, should consider how the marginalized of society are dealt with by the police, and should stand up for them when the police overstep their boundaries.

I was at the demo, but left about two minutes before all the shit happened above Sherbrooke, lucky me. People were a little too rowdy for my tastes, but i understand street kids being pissed off and wanting to have one day when they can all scream it out together.
There is so much police brutality here, flo, on a daily basis. And just a couple months ago they shot [ www.caircan.ca ] Mohamed dead for no other reason than the color of his skin. Police here are fuckers, like anyplace else, though i'm happy for you that they've treated you well so far.

ok then... it doesn't much seem so, though.
anyway, i guess that i don't look like i'm marginal here, because in france i always get bothered by policemen... here the only relationship i've been with them was friendly !
anyway, they're still much nicer here than in many other countries... you should all be aware of that.

Over the years i have seen a lot of riot police here in Montreal

Saw the news report on it tonight....

To be honest nothing new...

It starts out peaceful to end with people looking to cause trouble and then comes in the police....nothing new

Even myself i have had police almost club me twice while doing my job as a bike courier...... a fellow bike courier two summers ago was hog tied and thrown into a wagon because she had dreads & was in the wrong spot to take a break between calls.

Police in my mind are a nessary evil since we as race can not police ourselves....

Watching a riot can be @ most times a fun spectator sport;).....that is from a distance

montreal cops are SOOOO crooked, everybody knows that the only reason anything goes down in terms of organized crime is because the cops give it the ok, and get their cut of the action, and anybody who ever talks about it gets shot, like that dude from 'La Presse' a few years ago
