| The show Weeds had alot of potential, but in the end it falls short of what would've been a great series on TV.
The ideas are there and the storylines are entertaining, however more often than not, it feels hollow.
I think the writers are actually high when they write the screenplay. They have many ideas but take none of the ideas to a level where it could be a poignant social commentary on real life. Weeds is base on stereotype and icons, which is fine by me. i.e Soccer mom, driving a SUV, is a weed dealer who gets her supply from black friends in a poor community.
The problems also lies with the pacing of the show's plot. Some of the storylines doesn't have a resolution. Whatever happen to the girl who give the finger to her mom secret camera stuff animal? She was probly sent to boarding school but we never see that. Weeds jump from what's cool to the next. However, it never examines the story arc as well it could have. It's light comedy about trafficking marijuana in a upper middle class setting that lacks substance.
The t.v. show Weeds is similar to smoking a joint. It's mild diversion, but in the end, it doesn't add anything to your life.
I still watch it tho, because the mom is charismatic. |
