Why Do Ppl Stop Using Drugs?

Drug experiences can be fun and valuable, but the fun can't always last forever. So why do people stop using drugs?
Personally, I haven't been doing many drugs lately, partly because they can be a little bit difficult and risky to find in Thailand, and partly because there aren't the same parties and people here to do them with. So what about you? |

Gets boring, you become to have a high tolerance for some and then you need to take more, you don't want to die/destroy your body. You dont want to lose your friends..family. You want to become more responible.
but most people I talk to get bored of it |

I know that I don't need drugs and that basically all the things I get from drugs (lowering of inhibitions, ability to dance for hours) I could get without drugs. I don't want to end up thinking that I "need" the drug to do things I could have done without it.
With frequent drug use, the brain comes to "love" a certain brain-level activity -- without the drug, it may take a depression to restore the balance. Depressions can be scare. yet so enlightening after you pass through the quicksand of its journey--if you get out of it that is. |

I'm killing myself, for what, all the pain and lack of happiness that others and myself have brought upon me. Not worth it! But, yes, that painful. |

someone was trying to convince me to cure a previous night's alcohol poisoning by drinking more alcohol in the morning after. this type of logic fails to impress me. |

It works though. I could have totally used a beer or some vodka when I woke up today. |

That's stupid. The reason you feel like shit the next day is because alcohol dehydrates you. More alcohol dehydrates you more. If your brain is tricked into thinking it's best for you, then so be it. But drinking anything that's not alcohol based is your best bet. |

I wouldnt say "drugs" are as much the problem as being uneducated in how to properly do them, abusing them to ridiculous point etc.
even then, there are lots of people who just *shouldnt* do them cause they dont mesh well, i.e. some people have exra addictive personalities, are bipoler/super depressed.. they are good fun for sure, but I'm happy I dont anymore.. |

oh, and as for the original post, "why would someone stop", I found school/payin bills and just getting shit done to be a lot easier (a hell of a lot easier) when I stopped. On top of that, I found after a long time I started to feel a normal balance of chemicals in my body again, which was amazing. :P
but none of this is a problem for some |

I guess I could say that I can't necessarily post in this thread because I still do drugs... But when I stay sober for long periodes of time, I realize that I don't need them like I thought I did... As a matter of fact, I realize I don't need that at all!! I just feel a lot better about myself. I guess at that point you can appreciate getting high, and enjoy the experience a little more. Because it is true that you can become bored, and grow a huge tolerance and simply get turned away from getting intoxicated. Meh... I'll stop when I know that it no longer has a place in my life. |

1. I felt like i was experiencing permanent damage and noticing changes in behaviours.
2. school is more valuable and I don't feel like I am capable of doing drugs and attending class at the same time because I don't believe i am at my full potential to learn and excel. |

1. The whole thing started to seem really depressing, and therfore less fun.
2. I wanna be responsible and salvage my brain so I can use it for school. You can't do any physics with 1/2 a brain. |
