For thoughs who don't know Bush is comming to Ottawa tomorrow. He just wants to give a friendly hand shake to our beloved Paul Martin. How nice... oh yeah, they both also want to steal all our tax money for a project that we all know will fail.. hell its a failture already and it hasn't even started!

It is called:

National Missile Defense or known as the "Star Wars" Basically Bush wants to build a satelite in space that shoots lazers that will disarm any nuclear missiles comming towards the states and he wants Canada to be involed to make this happen. Russia and China have stated that they have built something that can advoid this satelite.. and that they can get passed it. Perhaps this is true or not. Sure the Star War project can hit a missile... but its like me trying to hit a tennis ball thats comming towards me with a pen. I'll probably hit it once out of 10 tries. Either way if a nuclear weapon is shot towards the States or Canada its not graniteed this project will work... and if you send alot of bombs... the lazers won't be able to get them all.

This is also a satelite... satelites can be pointed in any direction...
Its like walking down the street and you see a sniper always pointed at you... other Countries feel threaten.

and who will benifit from OUR money? The companies that build this piece of junk.. that will cost a TRILLION dollars!

Come and protest!

I'm speaking for myself here but, protest? Micheal Moore directs and produces movies about this shit, he even breaks it down step-by-step for idiots like us (americans) to understand and no one does a fucking thing. All this and no one does a fucking thing...what will protest do?

Waste our time.

We'll be long gone, and so will our kids and our Grandchildren when all of this MAY go down...why worry about this? It just ads extra stress to my life.

It doesnt make it right, but its still going to happen. Protest changes nothing.

there was a interesting piece on CNN tv. i forgot the reporter name. The report was called "the Ugly American".

i can't find the transcript but basically it talked how the World hates Bush, but not americans. but now that Bush got reelected fair and square, the World started to dislike the americans too.

It touched on his upcoming visit to Canada. The great part is that, under Canadian Immigration Law, Canada has the legal, and the right to arrest Bush for war crimes* . However since this is official state visit, we can't arrest him. If by any chance Bush comes to Canada for like a fishing, or golf trip, then we could.

Also, U.S. still has a ban on Canadian Beef because of one little mad cow. The chefs decided to served 100% pure Albertan beef for main course at the state dinner. hehe. only if that Bush' steak had mad cow

*edit: added quote

"One group, Lawyers Against the War (LAW), wants Bush arrested and charged with war crimes if he even sets foot in the country. The group says Canadian immigration law bars entry to those who have engaged in "gross violations of human rights."

from [ www.lawyersagainstthewar.org ]

As you know, section 35 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, 2001 2001 provides as follows:

35. (1) A permanent resident or a foreign national is inadmissible on grounds of violating human or international rights for
(a) committing an act outside Canada that constitutes an offence referred to in sections 4 to 7 of the Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act;

Paragraph 2 of section 35 allows for exceptions to be made for other classes of inadmissible foreign nationals 'who satisf[y] the Minister that their presence in Canada would not be detrimental to the national interest.' However, these exceptions specifically do not apply to those who have committed acts constituting offences referred to in sections 4 to 7 of the Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act.

Section 6 of the Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act incorporates by reference all international crimes against humanity and war crimes, and, explicitly, all crimes enumerated in Articles 7 and 8(2) of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Section 7 of the Act places special responsibility on ‘military commanders’ and other ‘superiors’ for crimes committed by their subordinates that they knew of, or were criminally negligent in failing to know of, and with respect to which they did not take necessary and reasonable steps to prevent.

that whole war crimes thing is nonsense

i agree bush is a psycho, but as host 1 says, theres more useful ways to go about trying to initiate positive change then protesting and acting like morons on capitol hill

How does this have anything to do with the riot a couple years back? This is not about the same issue at all.

Protesting is a right which should be exercised, because if we don't exercise our rights we might start seeing them disappear, especially when it has to do with the great power to the south.

star wars is old news everybody. reagan dreamed it up back in 1983 as a countermeasure to possible nuclear attack from soviet ICBM's. bush is just trying to pump new life into it. i personally think nuclear war is still a pretty relevant issue. just because the cold war is over doesnt mean the problem has gone away. there are still plenty of old missile silos, stateside AND in ex-soviet russia, which are active, and are trained on the same targets they were back in the 80's. and the russian technology, in that regard, was a lot less sure of itself than the US, which means shitty guidance systems, shitty quality control etc.... would you want a shotgun in your house that didnt shoot straight, and tended to misfire or go off if the trigger wasnt even pulled? ...
not to mention the underground sale of nuclear weapons, which is even more dangerous because theres more of them on the market than ever since the soviet military complex destabilized with the fall of communism. theres all kinds of shit floating around out there, available to any shithead holding a mean grudge, who might have the right connections and the hard cash to hook it up.
realistically, world nuclear disarmament is a pipe-dream at this point. we had better start taking countermeasures....
