I'd believe Al if i were you. he is helping me by investing in some of my pieces. Also he is giving me a small grant for some equipment.

grants for arts are nice and all that, but I'm sure you know that to multiply your money, you need to invest in business. If you're looking for some profitable ventures to invest, I can think of a few off the top of my head. One is a telecom company I'm doing some work with (no it's not my company), I believe they would gladly sign an investment contract since they have the service and are needing marketing capital. Another is a company run by a very street smart dude I know who owns a truckload of ATM machines around the city and last I heard was also looking for investmend money. Both are energetic businesses already doing well and with potential, looking to expand.

Just some food for thought. Contact me by e-mail if serious.

My brother wants to open a skate shop in westmount. My parents arent giving him the money cause I think they finally realized that after 3 totaled cars 2 civics and a mustang, a place in westmount square and endless vacations.. they aint never gonna see any of the money back.

My dad made a poster of a credit card add that says " Don't leave home without it" And changed it to " Don't leave home with it." He then put a post on top saying " Simon, wheres my money."

GOLD.

I dont do much business in Montreal...I tend to keep all my business in Toronto and New York. While I've thought of doing business here I kind of like being removed from my work. Whenever I am in a city where I do big business its hard to get away from the office.

I LOVE art. It is a major passion of mine. My brother is an artist so I know how difficult it is to get by.

Not to be preceived wrong, neither of the ventures I mentioned are for sale or for partition - both simply require some operation capital, so it would be a simple "invested X, with return of X+Y over time period of Z" kind of deal.

Either way, those people have been (and are) reinvesting most profit and getting funds from various sources, but I figure if everyone involved wins out in the end, why not help intersect the points.

Oh well, either way I'm still not 100% sure about ALL your claims Al... ;)

I love giveing money away to artistic funds. I gave the MET in NYC sizeable amounts of cash last year. I've also given a lot in support of the OSM (Montreal Symphopny Orchestra) and I partially fund an art program in Toronto that teaches kids about animation and cartooning.

The other thing you have to realize is that as of now I only really invest in companies my board tells me are sound. I don't have the time or energy to look into all of them myself...but If you give me the names and what not I wil have my guys look into it.

Message with info has been sent, I'm sure the owners of the companies in question would not have a problem meeting your board etc.

Ian: I can give away my 15" thats lying in the closet, but somehow I feel you don't want it :)

It's kinda dark-ish, and it's 15", but if you want it - it's yours. Mind you it's been lying in a closet for a year and a half. Last I checked it worked fine though...

Its funny how this thread has degenerated into a "suck up to Al in vain hopes of getting money" contest.
