You don't understand USB standards? .

The fastest standard your USB outlets can handle. If your computer can handle USB 3.0, might be better to dish out the couple bucks to buy the enclosure that can handle it. Makes transfers MUCH faster.

Look up the specs of your computer, you should be able to find out easily.

... usb 3.0 is faster then firewire???

I'm going to just jump in and add that they're still recovering from the floods in Thailand; not only did the HDD factories get hardcore fucked up, but the mines where they get the rare-earth magnets also got flooded. You're looking at paying upwards of 100$ for a 1tb internal HDD right now, and it's gonna be like that at least until mid to late summer.
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

You were once nominated top IT of ravewave?
By what panel of drugged-out ravers?
(tongue-in-cheek)

Motherboard make and model please?
Or if you bought a brand-name computer, make and model of that would do?

...
Scratch that. There's like 3$ difference between a USB3.0-enabled enclosure and a 2.0 one, IIRC. If you're thinking of going with an enclosure, just go with the USB3.0, won't hurt

I bought an OCZ 64GB SSD for my gaming rig last year, turns out Win7-Home takes up half of it xD So now I need some *TB drives to fill the beast, then to make a backup and media server later on. Fuck why did I wait to buy drives...

SSDs aren't affected, only spinning platter drives. This is actually perfect for SSDs to proliferate now that regular drives are going to be mad expensive.

If you've got a non-SSD drive to buy, then NOW is the time to do it.. they're only going to go up in price as the scarcity increases.. so that 1tb for $100 might actually be a good deal..

SSD drives are expected to go way down, as Apple will stop using regular HD's and using only SSD starting next month. Can't fucking wait.
