antiperspirant are not recommended because they contain aluminium (it increases the risk of cancer) and they block perspiration, which is a normal processus of the human body. i guess using antiperspirant once in a while is ok, but don't use it everyday. also, it is better to use natural deodorant (the one that is a rock with water on it works pretty well)
I'm feeling $%? right now..

Always used antiperspirant. Guess I have Iron Man's armpits by now. Sexisboring, deodorant is good if your underarms aren't the human equivalent of floodgates to which, you couldn't care less if it prevents at least one part of your body from sweating. I'm afraid your suggestion only applies to those who don't sweat excessively.

it's a hassle for me to find scent-free sticks. If I use regular ones with a scent, I get a rash :(

Aluminium zirconium tetrachlorohydrex isn't aluminium... it's Aluminium zirconium tetrachlorohydrex

similarly,

Sodium Chloride (salt) isn't Chlorine... it's Sodium chloride... if you eat sodium chloride, you won't die, if you eat (or breathe in) chlorine, you will (most likely) die...

Oh and deodorant for me. Mostly during summer heatwaves, or when I know I'll be working out for a reaaally extended period of time.

Luckily, I sweat a lot, but I rarely smell. 'cept sometimes when I'm sick.
I'm feeling chaotic! right now..

deodorant. Anti-persperant increases the odds of degenerative brain diseases. Pass.

antiperspirant but just a bit, like 1/2-1/3 of deodorant. I don't like odors, "good" or bad, the exception being flowers but unfortunately this society would stigmatize me for smelling that @.@ , anyway getting used to it would loose it's charm.

Because clearly antiperspirant increases those odds a hell of a lot more than years of sustained synthetic drug consumption.

I agree with v.2, I think a rave is a good example of a place where occasional antiperspirant use would do much more good then harm.

Sometimes I'm on a dance floor next to someone who reeks, and I can't help but think of it as being pretty selfish. Like if you don't have the self respect to wash yourself at least do it for the people around you.

Like this one time this girl got into my car and she smelled so bad I was gagging in the front seat. I mean involuntary urges to puke because of her stench gagging. I wouldn't even be able to smell that bad if I tried.

WTF don't these people realize people are running away from them or at the least making weird faces and standing back.

it only smells if you don't wash properly... some people claim to wash properly but smell... no, they don't wash properly... do it twice, three times if you must, no bacteria, no smell.

You smell what you eat. It doesnt matter how many times you wash, If you eat a lot of garlic, onions or certain spices... you will smell like those ingrediants.

100% correct... I remember a friend of mine, who was coming down with a cold, went on a binge of eating raw garlic (due to its many health benefits)... after having a hot bath, the whole apartment would have a garlic smell....

good thing I'm not a vampire...

I do agree with the anti-antiperspirant comments in this thread, though... it seems unnatural to block your pores from the natural process of sweating. I can get with masking the odor and killing bacteria - but clogging up the surface of your skin with (possible) toxins, to prevent your body from sweating out other toxins...

just seems like a bad idea.

I'm just asking out of curiosity but each time you brush your teeth, you're eroding its enamel and rendering them a little more fragile and susceptible to cavities in the process, yet people don't seem too concerned about that.

So why are people concerned about clogging 1% of their skin's pores ? Isn't the remaining 99% of your skin surface enough to sweat ? Isn't a bit less gross if your underarms are the only dry spots on your shirt when it's 40 outside compared to non-clogged armpits literally radiating projectile sweat ?

Meh, I don't know but the whole clogging pores thing seems a bit like overkill to me.
I'm feeling o.o right now..
