Yamaha all the way, rock kit. Accept no substitutes
Maybe Tama if you can find something reasonable. My first kit was a swingstar, small but you can smash the fuck outta them. Killswitch Engage uses the kit I have now. But Oak Custom The Yamaha Tour Custom Rock kit is the best imo, I would never trade mine for anything. |

Ha well that was meant for flo, but what's up Alex you looking for a place too?
Anyways I managed to figure it out between my friends and my place is still full, you can try contacting the owner though as I'm sure some leases are gonna be up soon. I found a link on kijiji actually: [ montreal.kijiji.ca ] The guys name is Richard, he's real cool, used to be in a band himself, built the place with that in mind.

ok thanks :)
DMTio I was planning to contact you today! I'll get in touch with Richard, thanks. As for my question, it wasn't exactly directed towards brand names but rather towards offers ;) thanks for the advice anyways. I'm not looking for a specific brand, and there's no brand I really dislike on the whole... excepted maybe Mapex :P I like Pearl Export series, but maybe (hopefully) I'll be getting something nicer... I've had a Yamaha Stage Custom that I really liked. For Tama I'd be looking at least for a Rockstar, not a Swingstar... Starclassic if I can afford it :) I don't know about Pacific drums (doesn't exist in France), never tried those. I would avoid Sonor or Ludwig, because I'm playing mostly extreme metal (brutal death, grind, black, ...) and this kind of jazzy/warm sound doesn't fit that genre. I'd also like to try out Ayotte (local gear FTW) or Gretsch (don't know whether the recent kits can fit metal drumming). So I'm looking for an offer, or a place (website/bulletin board/...) with interesting ads. I'd be going to look at studio Economik, Drum Solo, or Cite2000, but if anybody swings by there I'd be glad to know if there's anything there before going around the whole city just to have a look at empty paper boards ;) Do they have second-hand drumkits (or super specials) at Steve's music? I also know another drum shop on St-Laurent and Cremazie I think... any other good drum shop in town? If you're selling something or know somebody who'd be willing to, please tell me :)

If you're in MTL, you should definitely talk to Pola, she works at Steve's.
She could prolly hook you up good.
