Anyone remember where the kinda airy organ sample in the back comes from? It's totally slipping my mind and driving me crazy

It's from a song called "Season of the Witch" by a band called Super Session, 1968. It was a collaboration among Buffalo Springfield's Stephen Stills on guitar, bluesman Mike Bloomfield on guitar and Al Kooper.

"The song, produced by J-Swift, utilizes samples from "Summer in the City" by Quincy Jones and "Are You Experienced?" by Jimi Hendrix."

I was looking for the track - Tipsy found the organ sound in the Quincy Jones track, I thought part of the backing track was from the Super Sessions song, but I am no longer so sure.

The Super Sessions version is an improvement on Donovan's, in my opinion.

according to my sources these tracks were used for Passin' Me by:

Skull Snaps
"It's a New Day" 1973
sampled for drums

Ayers, Roy
"The Third Eye" 1976

Jones, Quincy
"Summer in the City"

Russ, Eddie
"Hill Where the Lord Hides"
1974

drums from Weather Report's
"125nd Street Congress" (ownage!)

Hendrix, Jimi
"Are You Experienced" (muted guitar sound)

Whodini's "Friends" (1984)

and definitely agreet, the 11 minute long SS season of the witch pwns donovans verison but hey, he fucking wrote it so.. i remember buying donovan's greatest hits on cassette like fifteen years ago, that same night i did acid for the first time and ended up lying in bed for like fifteen hours listening to donovan over and over-obviously convinced that it was the best fucking shit EVER. so i'm kinda partial to the original .

you need to do the same thing with Easter Everywhere by 13th Floor Elevators. The electric jug will set you free... plus, there's a smokin' cover of Dylan's Baby Blue on that album... everybody needs more Roky in their record collection.
