| The server is up and this time I don't think there will be any problems... All updates have been done, the server actually rebooted many times, the console works, no blue screens yet, let's hope for the best. |

| The site was only up for a few hours, and yes that data is lost and we are back from the backup. I will setup a slave MySQL server at some point in the near future so that there will always be a dupe of the database but it will be a little while before I can have that setup as I don't have time right now. You can cry me a river if you like. I don't think it will happen again, this time things seem to be working. There were problems right from the beginning with the old restore like blue screens of death, random reboots, basically it was like the server was as it was when it died. Now none of those problems have been happening now. Not one crash. |

Linux is nice and all, but unless you know linux up and down it's more a pain in the ass to do stuff with it.
Doing a backup on a windows server means dragging a folder to a different location.. |

| Yah I used to run everything from red hat but then I figured I had better things to do with my time then sit there watching apache with PHP compile for 20 minutes just to find out my 10 line compile command had a typo and something didn't compile properly which caused nothing to work. Ow and when updating the kernel for Linux remotely was also unpleasant. Windows Server 2003 is a very good system. |

anyways, because i had trouble with winxp before, so i wanted a more stable os, so i went 2003 server, but then my hd crashed, and i was tired of incompatibility with 2003, so i went back with xp sp2 and now it works fine, i still have the burned cd of 2003 and xp installs tough |
