" generally speaking girls cattiness is directly proportional to the amount of available dick in the area. " Girls turn into HATERS / BITCHES ( that's a pretty broad generalization ) when there are not enough guys around. Cud be at the workplace, in a club environment, at school, etc. And I quote : " I work with all girls, and they're always nice to each other, but turn around to me and tell me how much they hate each other... because I'm the only guy who works there. heh, but they all love me. " " so tonight i go pick her up and we go clubbing. she had just designed a new outfit and was excited about wearing it. anyway, as soon as we stepped into the club all the women literally just stopped what they were doing and just stared at her. and not in a nice way. i could see she was feeling awkward so we took a walk thru the club, but no matter we went, all she got was stares and bitchy comments. We eventually ended up leaving cos she was being harrassed by guys. And girls kept bumping into her "accidentally". " etc etc. Well to tell the truth I know that girls can get bitchy towards other girls... but a friend of mine says that I might be underestimating the phenomenon. So ladies, the cattiness, IS IT THAT BAD ? |

But what if there are a coupla men around, but no couples ? example : workplace I've noticed this at Cours Mont-Royal, girls just keep STARING at each other, and they often make comments on how the other girls are dressed, comments on their choice of shoes, hair, belt, etc. In this case, it's not competition over men, but straight up HATING and that's what I want to understand ! |

In reference to your story punanny bizness, I'm thinking seeing a girl all dressed up, looking attractive, drawing attention can stir up envy and contention in others. Especially because of the value that a "beautiful" woman has in our society. The media is filled with images of these "beautiful" women and how men cannot resist them. Largly, in part by the media and in part by the value in our society of female beautifulness, women have that image of being that one female who 'stops traffic' and sometimes, we struggle with that image more than other times. Plus, the situation doesn't get much better because we don't talk about it enough. So people are stuck dealing with these images, perpetuated but not caused by the media, in their minds, on their own. One one level I think it is a survival instinct... on another level I think the compeition between women is fueled by the capitalism in our society, the media, and other institutions. |
