jist of un-folding story:

1) Fiscal update was an joke, and full of cheap political tricks. But conservatives hoped it to pass anyways b/c liberal party too weak to have another election since they don't have a leader yet.

2) Liberals say they won't support it. Instead they will try to form coalition gov't avec the ndp. The bloc would not be invited to coalition, although they would work closely with it

3) Conservatives shit their pants, and try to back track, removing some of the cheap political tricks. They argue that its unfair that liberals form coalition gov't with NDP. Harper got put in his place like a little bitch

thoughts? projections of how this all plays out?
I'm feeling empty right now..

...
I'm sick of Harper playing these twisted partisan games, calling a possible coalition govt "undemocratic". I say bring on the coalition.

Oh, and Jack Layton for PM.

---

if the opposition formed a coalition to enforce their position to lead the nation with better representation, it would be to my great satisfaction.

But seriously, it would be the kind of move that would remind me of why i like living in our country. I'm not sure how to word it, but there's something appealing about politicians rebelling against each other...feels, uh, left-wingish... .. .

I can't beleive this is happening for real. Don't get me wrong, I didn't vote for Harper but... même si y'est minoritaire, il a quand même remporté les elections.

I'm feeling happy! right now..

Why the fuck didn't they do this during the last mandate?
The Conservatives have a much stronger minority now
A coalition now requires the support of all three oppposition parties, whereas before the libs/ndp or bloc/ndp or lib/bloc could have done it.

lib/ndp is pretty strong, if they get the bloc on board unofficially they would have the Tories in the corner. I'm sort of on the fence about this, though.

getting out of this mess will be even more crazy afterwards, our political system is stong because its divided, the problem, is that none of them want to work out whats in front of them. chaos awaits.

THEN:
Conservatives 124 seats, Liberals 103 seats, Bloc 51 seats, NDP 29 seats

NOW
Conservatives 143 seats, Liberals 77 seats, Bloc 49 Seats, NDP 37 seats

A coalition now requires WAY too much co-operation between parties, and would not last too long imo.
The breakdown of seats supported a coalition before, but now er uh well good luck with that

Wow, had a brain fart there, didn't realize the Bloc would be needed to sustain a coalition. Then again, it seems they wouldn't oppose.

But I disagree with you, Vee-Vee. I feel a coalition government would be much more democratic, since it would reflect the will of a bigger proportion of people.

whats the cost? like 300$ million? Socialize it, and you probably end up paying less that 2$ towards it if you clear less than 25k$ (which I do). And an election gives me far more that 2$ worth of enterainment...especially the lulz that come with one 6 weeks after another. italy ftw

The whole irony of the election was that he broke his own law by holding the election in the first place. Bill C-16 is a fucking joke.
