 Coolness: 685790 | No, scar got it right, promo/whitelabels of stuff that's getting a full pressing are pre-release of the tracks in limited number to guage the sales and how well recieved the track is to see if the full release is worth going ahead and pressing. "Promos" are only free if you're friends with the producer, and those are what usually falls into the dubplate category. |

| Coolness: 685790 | well, if it's vinyl releases, then the definition of promo is pretty much the standard one. The only "free" promo records you get are if you're on a mailing list of some sort, but you usually have a yearly fee to pay and you have to review the records.
Dubs are what reggie is thinking of as promos. If the record says that it's a promo (or a white-label of something that's getting a "full" release), it's a limited, no-frills pressing to see if it can generate sales and an interest in the tune to determine the pressing run needed so that they don't end up with 5000 records sitting in a warehouse collecting dust because no one liked the tune. |

yeah we got our mailing list out they are the freebie but go to trusted friends and djs to help promote and the promos are on sale now which are on ''white label''. only a limited amount are pressed up. the full release with a cool print of em goes out on the 5th then depending on the sales and the demand we then get more repressed. Our last one 'This Life' just had its third repressing, meaning we have sold 1500 copies. not bad fingers crossed this one is just as good.
