I've just lost all my confidance in modern science. The higher the temperature, the faster internal combustion is and so the faster you age. How is this news, I thought it was obvious among living creatures. Fevers cure you because they rise your body temperature so that you're internal defense mechanisms can 'quickly' reproduce themselves in order to effectively kill the bacteria or virus. Cold = slow, hot = fast when it comes to particles. We age because we are combusting, thanks to oxygen, to speed up that combustion creates heat. DUH!! aargg |

 Coolness: 178750 | quite obvious. La respiration cellulaire, c'est de la combustion, juste bcp plus lente qu'un feu. Mais c'est de la combustion pareille.
T'as des oiseaux que leur température normale c'est 42 degrés (nous à 42 on meurt, en passant)... Ils doivent manger tout le temps car ils "combustent" super vite. Pas sure qu'ils vivent super longtemps non plus. ;) |

| Coolness: 42855 | Je vois pas le rapport. On parle de la relation entre la temperature et l`homme. Bien sur il y a d'autres choses, comme le fait que les formes de vie se mangent mutuellement...mais ici on parlait specifiquement du facteur temperature sur la question. Et comme aerial raver vient de dire, y'a toute une difference entre tuer pour survivre et tuer pour tuer.

| Coolness: 178750 | N'ah, mais en fait, j'y repense là, les humains, qu'ils vivent au pôle nord au à l'équateur, ils gardent tout le temps la même température, 37 degrés...
(sauf quand on dort, ça baisse un peu, ou quand on fait de l'hypo/hyperthermie, mais c'est pas normal lol, c'est que t'as soit pas assez de bouffe pour te réchauffer, soit pas assez d'eau pour te refroidir... Tk) Fak la respiration cellulaire, qui est un processus interne, devrait se passer au même rhytme pour un Haïtien qu'un Inuit, car ils ont tous les 2 la même température corporelle. Genre, si tu veux vraiment qu'un humain vive longtemps, faudrait le mettre en sommeil prolongé/hibernation... Ce qui est pas évident. |

Telomeres are a structure in the cells. It protects the chromosomes. Everytime a cell divides, it looses a little part of telomeres, until it cannot divide anymore. Since women have longer telomeres than men, the cells can divide for a longer time without being altered. I think also the feminine hormones like oestrogen helps live longer.
