NEW SCHEME TO HELP DRINK AND DRUG USERS

A NEW day programme has been set up in Ipswich by Local Health Partnerships
NHS Trust to help individuals with drug and alcohol problems.

Named The Junction, the structured day programme aims to encourage
individuals to explore issues surrounding their drug and alcohol use, and
help them develop strategies that should enable them to make the necessary
changes required to lead a drug and alcohol free lifestyle.

The programme runs 5 days a week over a 12 week period, and focuses on
healthy living, life and social skills, relapse prevention as well as
alternative therapy and leisure activities.

The programme allows people to open up and gain support, from each other
and professionals, in a safe, therapeutic environment. Individuals are
encouraged to take responsibility for their past and present behaviour, and
to examine the effect their behaviour has had on others around them. They
are taught skills that they can employ in their everyday lives..

Anybody who would like more information about the service should contact
staff at The Junction on 01473 215468.
