SOFA WITH PRICEY STUFFING
Sanitation workers picking up a discarded couch on East 137th Street in the
Port Morris section of the Bronx yesterday noticed a white powder coming
out of it when they put it in the rear of the truck to compact it, the
police said.
When officers were called to the scene around 1 p.m., they determined that
the powder was cocaine, 375 pounds (170 kilograms) of it, with a value on
the street of about $8 million. It is not known who put the drugs into the
couch.
