SENIORS TURN DOWN CHANCE TO PUFF POT

Advocates of marijuana thought they had a sure bet yesterday when they
offered seniors in the Lions Manor the chance to smoke pot to relieve their
aches and pains.

Chris Buors issued a statement to publicize the event, saying he and
another marijuana advocate, Dennis Dufresne, were to speak at the Lions
Manor on Portage Avenue at Sherbrook Street yesterday.

"At that time, memberships to the Manitoba Compassionate Club will be
offered and any senior who want to try cannabis as a healing alternative
will be given an opportunity," he said in a statement.

The seniors, however, declined the opportunity, leaving Dufresne to hand
out leaflets outside the building.
