LIVING NEXT TO A GROW HOUSE

Marijuana Grow-Ops Slash Value Of Real Estate, June 12

Nice article on the dopers. I have one of these places two doors from my
house. It was raided about six weeks ago, and they are just now cleaning it
up. I realize your article was strictly from the slant of what happens to a
house that has become a grow-op, but there is far more to this problem.

1. The house in my area is not taken care of. The grass is not cut and the
house is in bad repair. This affects my property values.

2. The value of the product grown in these places is very high which makes
me worry about what will happen if another group decides to steal the
contents of such a house and people start to shoot?

3. According to the police, if convicted the owners and growers get the
equivalent of a slap on the wrist.

Their message to me is they are frustrated by the light sentences. Bottom
line is something serious has to be done to the people involved. My
suggestion is that any house found to be used as a grow-op should be given
to the city and sold. The proceeds should go to fighting this crime.

Doesn't matter if it is your tenant who is the grower. If you are too
stupid to know who your tenants are, you deserve to lose your house.
