POT FOUND IN HOME OF SHOOTING VICTIM

BRIER - Police found a marijuana-growing operation in the home of a
32-year-old man who was shot in the stomach Tuesday night, but they have
yet to find the person who shot him.

Brier police officers searched the house on Vine Road in hopes of finding
the shooting suspect, whom they believe is a friend of the victim. Instead,
they found pot plants.

The shooting suspect is described as a thin white man in his 20s, about 5
feet 11 inches tall with short hair, police said. He was wearing a
light-colored, long-sleeved shirt and light-colored cargo pants. Police
said his first name might be Dave.

The victim is at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he underwent
surgery and is expected to make a full recovery, police said.

The shooting happened about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the victim's house. The
Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace police departments assisted, as did
the South Snohomish County Drug Task Force and Snohomish County Fire
District 1.

A 45-year-old man who said he was the victim's roommate came to the house
while police were investigating. He was arrested on suspicion of
manufacturing, delivering or possessing a controlled substance.

Police are still trying to piece together what happened. They have not been
able to interview the victim, who has been under sedation since his
surgery, Brier Police Chief Don Lane said.
