GMA WANTS TOUGHER DRIVE VS DRUG PUSHERS

PRESIDENT Macapagal-Arroyo yesterday ordered the Philippine National
Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force to intensify
the campaign against street-level drug trafficking.

"What the President wants is for us to further strengthen our
anti-drug campaign particularly when it comes to street-level drug
pushing and illegal drug abuse," said PNP-AIDSOTF commander Director
Marcelo S. Ele, Jr.

Ele, also the concurrent PNP Director for Investigation and Detective
Management, said Mrs. Arroyo gave the order in the wake of reports of
rampant drug pushing.

The PNP-AIDSOTF, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement
Agency will focus its campaign on identifying and neutralizing
street-level drug traffickers and users through the barangay
information system.

"We are harnessing the help of the community once again in this
campaign. We want the full support of the public to clear the
community of drug threats," Ele said.

Information and questions regarding drugs can be relayed through the
AIDSOTF hotline 722-1918 and 722-7976 or thru the PNP Info Text 2920.
