PRISON TIP LINE AIMS AT REDUCING DRUG PROBLEM
Vancouver (CP) -- The Correctional Service of Canada is trying to stamp out
the growing drug problem inside federal prisons in the province with a new
telephone tip line.
The toll-free number (1-866-956-5550) can be used anonymously by people
inside and outside the prison system, putting them in touch with any of the
10 federal prisons in the province. Regional corrections spokesman Dennis
Finlay said that despite searches with dogs and other special equipment,
drugs are still getting inside. The program will only be used in B.C. for
now but he said it could be extended across the country at a later date.
