DRUG LORD CALLED SHOTS

Final Arguments in Murder Trial

BARRIE -- Hired hit men and drug lords ruling over grow-ops from afar
unfolded before a jury yesterday during closing arguments in a murder
trial.

Following a mammoth nine-month trial that delved into the seedy
underworld of marijuana grow houses, five people -- Tung Duong, 38, of
Mississauga, Ibrahim Yumnu, 48, of Wasaga Beach, Vinicio Cardoso, 39,
of Toronto, Bruce Glen, 38, of Caledon and Genevieve Ward, 45, of
Wasaga Beach -- are awaiting a verdict on charges of murder and
conspiracy to commit murder.

Bong Bui and her husband, Dung Ton, were shot and beaten to death in a
field on Hollick Cr. off the 4th line in Oro-Medonte on May 24, 2002.

In a fiery appeal to the jury, Crown attorney Mike Flosman insisted it
was Tung Duong, wanting to rise in the criminal organization, who
followed the orders of a California drug lord, who ordered the couple
dead after Ton tried to rip-off players connected with a Mississauga
grow-op.

"This is the real McCoy, ladies and gentlemen. These are serious
heavies, not to be trifled with."

Flosman said Duong's lover, Minh Dang, a high-priced prostitute who
worked for Ton, was tricked into luring the couple to their deaths.
Dang eventually pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Earlier, defence lawyer Terri Kirichenko insisted his client,
Genevieve Ward, knew nothing of the murder plan and was an abused
victim of Yumnu.

Closing arguments are expected to conclude today.
