PRISON BENEFITS CRIMINALS
Columnist John Martin seems to be under the illusion that giving
criminals longer jail time will better serve the public.
Have you actually investigated the activities within the walls of
B.C. and federal prisons?
I think not. The rampant drug and alcohol use within these facilities
makes a mockery of any government expense aimed at curtailing the
community's concerns.
More exasperating are the corrections officers who persistently turn
a blind eye to the drugs and alcohol available in these institutions.
The only benefit to longer jail sentences is better equipped and more
invigorated criminals.
