LIST OF OFFENSES FOR MAN DRIVING WITH YOUNG CHILD

CALERA - A 22-year-old Ft. Worth man, driving through Calera with his
22-month-old daughter, found that driving while smoking marijuana and
drinking beer is not an acceptable practice.

Friday, Calera officers Shane Walker and Jason Bannowsky saw a driver toss
a lit cigarette from his Honda Accord, onto the highway. According to
Walker's report, the driver was pulled over because there is a burn ban in
effect in Bryan County.

Walker's report states the driver told Walker he had a valid driver's
license, but lost the license. The driver also said he did not have
insurance on the car. Walker wrote the driver citations for not having
proof of insurance, not having his driver's license in his possession and a
warning for depositing an injurious substance on the roadway. Walker
reported he asked the driver to step out so he could explain the citations
and noticed the man was unsteady on his feet and had a strong odor of
alcohol and marijuana on him. He also had trouble walking, red blood-shot
eyes and slurred speech.

Walker's report states he called for Calera Police Capt. T.J. White to come
to the location for assistance. Walker's report said he told the captain
the man had been drinking and smoking marijuana. He also told Walker he
would find open beer containers in the car. The driver was placed under
arrest and the passengers were asked to step out of the car.

Walker reported the driver had his 22-month-old baby in the car with them.
He asked the driver's girlfriend to remove the baby from the car. While
searching a male passenger, police found marijuana in a clear plastic bag.
More marijuana was found in clear bags in the trunk between several pairs
of clothes. A 32-ounce beer was found, almost empty. More marijuana and
rolling papers were found stuffed between the seats.

According to the report, a family member was called to pick up the toddler.
The driver and two passengers were taken to Bryan County Jail. The driver
was booked for child endangerment, possession of marijuana, compulsory
insurance law, driving under the influence, operating a vehicle without
driver's license in possession and transporting an open container of
alcohol (beer).
