PLENTY OF BUSTS VIA SNITCH LINE
Surrey RCMP have made 120 grow-op busts so far this year, thanks to
tips left on the city's new marijuana snitch line.
Const. Glenn Leeson says 80 per cent of the drug section's Marijuana
Enforcement Team busts originate from tips from the public.
"It's a huge part of the success of getting these investigations off
the ground," Leeson said in an interview yesterday. "They're the eyes
and ears of their neighbourhoods, they're instrumental."
Police have also seized more than $160,000 as part of the busts, which
come from tips as simple as people smelling skunky odours in their
neighbourhood, abnormal condensation on the windows or observing odd
comings-and-goings from their neighbour's properties.
