GOOD REASONS TO SAY YES TO ID CARDS

Candice Marie Porter stated that there is zero proof of positive
relief or purpose for medical marijuana (Letters, Nov. 17). I feel sad
and sorry for her. We have 12,000 years of proof. But here are the
best: The 1972 Presidential Report on Marijuana and a novel called
"The Emperor Wears No Clothes," by Jack Herer.

These are both factual accounts. Let us not forget studies done by
Stanford, UCSD, UCLA, medical research hospitals and nearly every
cancer ward in the country. Hospice volunteers have seen the results
patients have after eating marijuana. It can stop involuntary shaking
of a person inflicted with Parkinson's. It can relieve a patient
throwing up from chemo treatment.

The majority of the people voted for Proposition 215. It is the duty
of the supervisors to work to implement the will of the people. It is
sad there is so little compassion for sick and dying people. If pot
has no medical value, then why is it in pill form for the last 20
years? It works 50 percent of the time; inhaling is instant.

We need the medical cards to keep from being persecuted by the powers
that be. After 14 operations in 15 years I believe I have the right to
medication without persecution.

Bless this country, for we are lost.
