NEEDLES WORSE THAN TUBES

Dear Editor,

Although I don't advocate it nor indulge in it myself, I doubt very
much if the store close to Willoughby Elementary that allegedly sells
crack pipes should be much of a concern to parents of kids attending
the school.

Just because a few glass tubes, apparently used by certain crack
addicts to smoke the stuff, might be sold there doesn't automatically
mean the addicts are going to litter the streets with them, does it?

If an individual bought the item to use for their illicit pursuits in
that neighborhood, the last thing they'd want would be to leave it
behind so shortly after obtaining it.

What these parents ought to be concerned about is if there are
actually drug addicts frequenting the area in which their little ones
go to school, and not whether they are leaving any personal effects
behind

Unless, of course, needles are also turning up in the area? That would
be a whole different story, and it would definitely be time for action.

A glass tube used for smoking crack is one thing, but a dirty, used
syringe left behind by who knows what type of individual is something
we all should be concerned about.

Rob Nickel,

Surrey
