EDUCATION FIRST STEP

Learning about crystal meth is the first step in preventing its
use.

The Village of Chase has video tapes available on a three-day loan for
no cost to residents.

The tapes are from a forum that Coun. Dora MacQuarrie recently
attended. She says they are a valuable source of information and she
encourages people to take advantage of their availability.

Community forum

Chase Mayor Harry Danyluk and councillors accepted a request to appear
as a delegation at a meeting of the three local First Nations councils
to discuss a proposed community to community forum.

The meeting will give all parties an opportunity to mutually agree on
the content for such a forum.

OCP workshop

Chase council unanimously agreed to arrange a workshop to discuss the
effect of the Official Community Plan on industrial areas within Chase.

The move came following a request at an earlier meeting from Doug
Nelson, owner of Econospan Structures. Nelson had expressed
frustration with the development permit process that he considered
both time consuming and onerous.

He had asked that the village look into changes that would help
businesses in the industrial area.

Tourism in Chase

Tourism Management students at Thompson Rivers University have been
working on a tourism gap analysis for the Village of Chase.

The students conducted an inventory of all existing tourism
infrastructure in Chase, identifying gaps and determining where
potential for growth exists.

Hired by the Village of Chase council in late September, the class
made a number of visits to the village to analyze current market
trends and create a database of existing businesses and natural features.
