ARIZONA NOT VICTIM IN SCENARIO

Perhaps a more appropriate title to the Dec. 4 article "Mexican labs
set to pour meth into Ariz." would be "Arizona set to consume Mexican
meth." The Star's title portrays Arizona as a victim of the Mexican
narcotics trade. This is not the case. Arizonans, along with all
Americans who use illegal drugs, provide a very lucrative economic
demand for such substances. Without our habits and our dollars, many
meth labs would not exist. Perhaps we should look at the
opportunity-lacking members of the Mexican economy as the true victims
in the scenario. They are the ones being pressured to manufacture
illicit substances in order to have a decent income in their
struggling economy.
