POLICE KEPT BUSY

Turns out it isn't just night-time when the streets are filled with
drivers who may be impaired, transporting narcotics or operating a
vehicle under the influence of drugs.

Kelowna police were busy during a two day stretch this week,
apprehending several suspects at road checks during daylight hours.

On Wednesday and Thursday, between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.,
Kelowna police apprehended the following:

One male was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking a
narcotic when police found 163 grams of hashish in his vehicle.

One male was charged with possession of a firearm.

Four males were found with narcotics on them and charges are
pending.

Four 24 hour suspensions were handed out to people for driving while
their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drugs. One
male was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Three vehicles were impounded and their drivers were prohibited from
driving.

Police road checks are continuing through the Christmas season during
day and night times and RCMP say they are directing targeted
enforcement at apprehending impaired drivers.
