ANTI-DRUG MESSAGE IMPORTANT
Regarding the letter Children Brainwashed By Anti-Drug Messages (Dec.
12): before writing such a letter, the writer should have studied
medicine for at least five years to understand all the research
published on the harmful effects cannabis, the alkaloid in marijuana,
or pot.
It is as far as I know the only drug that will actually destroy nerve
cells, especially in the frontal lobes, the higher centres of the
brain. These cells are not regenerated.
Smoking one joint a day for 30 days will lower your IQ consistently --
hence the "dropouts" and limited vocabulary of "potheads." This
blunting of the brain is probably the reason why it is beneficial to
some neurological diseases such as epilepsy. Although I have not
studied this field, it makes sense. We must keep our children's brains
sharp and brilliant.
