COUNCIL CONSIDERS TASK FORCE ON CRYSTAL METH
The City of New Westminster is considering the formation of a crystal
meth task force.
City council supported Coun. Lorrie Williams' motion to have staff
investigate and report back on the formation of a crystal meth task
force, which would include the community.
Coun. Calvin Donnelly said crystal meth is a significant issue facing
the community.
He noted that former MLA Joyce Murray did some work on the
issue.
WiIliams said staff could use information gathered by Murray, the
city's family court and social issues committees, and other groups.
"Everybody is poised and ready to do something," Williams
noted.
Coun. Bob Osterman suggested the city should hold a public meeting on
the issue.
