MAKE VIOLENCE A CAMPAIGN ISSUE
The Editor,
The escalating gun violence in some of Canada's major cities, like
Toronto and Vancouver, is a matter of grave concern.
The deaths of 50 black young men in Toronto and the loss of 95
Indo-Canadian youth in the Vancouver area, to drugs and violence, is a
clear indication that this matter is getting out of hand.
In addition to that, a vast number of individuals and families have to
suffer in silence because of this madness. The tragic deaths of
innocent victims like Jane Creba should send a strong message to our
lawmakers that it is time to act rather than political posturing.
The current federal election campaign under way provides an excellent
opportunity for the electorate to demand action in dealing with this
extremely important issue of public safety.
