STORY ABOUT MEDICAL MARIJUANA CASE SHOWS LACK OF RESPECT FOR MILITARY VETERANS

STOCKBRIDGE -- In response to the Dec. 12 story about veteran Gary
Muntz, first I salute him for your service! I am a Vietnam veteran
myself. Thank you!

All I can say is, he should do whatever it takes to ease his pain and
injuries from the war. I know firsthand what it means to be cut down
for serving your country. I served from 1963 to 1969, ranking staff
sergeant, and was honorably discharged.

Can you remember what we were called when we got out? We were labeled,
"baby killers." War is hell. You shoot to kill or be killed. I am 67
years old. I do not use drugs, nor do I drink.

Last year my wife and I went to a local car dealer to get a better
car. The man asked me if I served in the service. I said yes, a
Vietnam veteran. He looked at me and said, "You must be one of those
baby killers." I looked at my wife and we got up and left, and we have
never been back to any dealership since. It is not right for anyone
who serves his or her country to be looked down upon. We deserve more
respect than that! We fought to keep everyone else free. I was proud
to serve my country and would do it again if I were younger.

Please respect us -- don't cut us down!
