PROPOSITION 203 PROTECTS THE SICK

The prohibitionist in Ken Rosevear ("New law raises questions for
Yuma businesses, schools," Nov. 16)
doesn't get it.

If the guy making your pizza or wiring your house wants to use
cannabis, they already are. Proposition 203 simply protects sick
citizens who use cannabis (marijuana) from overzealous government.
Where sick citizens may use opiates, they should also be allowed to
use cannabis without being discriminated against.

Proposition 203 exists only because the God-given plant is prohibited.
Once cannabis is finally legalized (and it will be legalized), the
problems associated with Proposition 203 will be alleviated.
Legalizing cannabis will likely mean citizens who wish to use the
superplant for medical purposes will not need to pay extortion money
to the government for protection from police.
