RETURNING THE VOLLEY

The anger against Braeside residents is misplaced. Blame council
for not dealing with this situation six years ago when this clinic
opened. I would like to apologize to the staff and patients of
Second Chance for the threats directed at you. There is no reason
for anyone to resort to violence in a case like this. I ask all
Calgarians: Do you want this clinic in your neighbourhood? I'm
betting the answer would be a resounding No. While I understand
the majority of patients are regular working folks with an addiction
to painkillers, some are addicted to street drugs, and it only takes
one incident in the area to ruin a family's sense of security. A
clinic of this sort has no place in any residential area.

The last area the clinic was in wasn't zoned for a medical facility.
How hard is it to change the zoning for one strip mall in a light
industrial area? This clinic has had to move so many times due to
opposition from residents in all areas it has tried to move into. All
of you who are mad at Braeside, get off your own high horses, look in
your own mirrors and ask yourselves why this clinic isn't in your
neighbourhood. As disgusted as you are at Braeside, I am disgusted
with this whole city that thinks they can do no wrong.
