COURT RULING SHOULD BE OVERTURNED

To the editor:

Congratulations to defense lawyers who have removed a tool from the
police trying to do something about drugs in this country. Well done.
Oh wait a minute. Isn't this the same week that the United Nations
has identified us (Canada) as a major drug producer in the world?

In return for our bud marihuana and designer drugs we get cocaine
guns and misery coming North. When our drug producers receive
conditional sentences (aka: No jail time) they go down to the Court
Registry and peel $100 dollar bills to pay their fines. I wonder how
many years Judy Craig made $100,000 tax free before getting caught?

I'm one of those Canadians who believes we don't do enough for our
drug addicts and mentally ill. If you don't believe me try playing
hop scotch over the countless homeless and drug addicts in our major
cities.

That being said, part of the problem is rewarding these drug producers
with these decisions. Ms. Craig's house should be forfeited and the
money put right back into drug treatment and outreach. Right now,
when these people get caught, it means they don't get to go to Mexico
for the winter.
