PEACE TOWER CLOCK NOT ONLY THING THAT GOES BONG

When the clock on the Peace Tower struck 4:20 p.m. yesterday the
sounds of cheers from the thousands of pot smokers quickly turned
into coughs as joints and bongs were passed around.

The time on the clock signifies the universal time pot smokers
normally cut out of the office, school or wherever they are to smoke
up. They also gather every year on April 20 to celebrate what's
become the international day of smoking ganga.

"I am here to smoke some dope. Chill out with all my buddies playing
some football," said Jonah Chaput, 18, of Petawawa. "4:20 is life.
Every single year since I was 13 years old. I have to do it. No matter what."

Chaput wasn't alone. An estimated 3,000 people, typically 16 to 25,
joined in on Parliament Hill yesterday.

Everyone was lighting up their joints or pulling dope through the
bowls of their bongs.

Some were even trying to make a buck by offering selling water and munchies.
