DOCUMENTARY TACKLES METH

On Wednesday, nearly all Colorado television stations will air
"Childhelp Crystal Darkness," a documentary that helps fight back
against crystal methamphetamine using many Colorado sources.

It showcases testimony from law enforcement and recovery specialists
and the stories of recovering meth addicts from Loveland to Denver
to Grand Junction.

The documentary will be at 6:30 p.m., and a special Spanish version
of it will air at 5:30 p.m. the same day on Latino television stations.

On the evening of the broadcast, United Way 2-1-1's call center will
be operating, and calls will be fielded by recovery and prevention
experts who are volunteering to assist in the effort. People will be
able to reach the center by dialing 211.

Volunteers from North Range Behavioral Health and the Weld County
Task Force will be assisting the United Way specialists in answering
calls. Calls may also be made to (970) 353-4300 or (866) 485-0211 to
get connected.

Jeannine Truswell, executive director of United Way of Weld County,
said the agency expects hundreds of calls that night. "The hope is
that many of these will be families and individuals seeking help
with meth addiction," she said in a press release.

"This is a night for families to block out everything else and watch
this together. We believe it will make a difference in many, many
lives. Meth is so destructive to our children, our families and our
community," Truswell said in the release. "We have to come together
to take a stand against this terrible drug."

The Colorado organizing committee is looking for volunteers to
assist with the grassroots campaign. To participate, call Jade
Thomas at (303) 413-3460.
