36 TEST POSITIVE FOR ECSTACY

MUMBAI: The anti-narcotics cell (ANC) of the Mumbai police has sent
summons to 36 people, including 10 girls, who have tested positive for
narcotic substances at a rave party in Juhu on October 5.

The state forensic laboratory submitted its second report on Friday,
which contained the test details of the 36 partygoers. "They have to
present themselves before the court or the police in a week's time,"
said deputy commissioner of police (ANC) Vishwas Nangre-Patil.

"The second report submitted showed that of the 43 samples, 36 tested
positive for Ecstasy. In the first report, 109 people had tested
positive for drugs," he said.

Requesting anonymity, an officer attached to the ANC said, "The
reports of both Aditya Panscholi's daughter Sana and Shakti Kapoor's
son Siddhant will be part of the third report. We are awaiting the
third report, which the FSL will submit in a week's time."

The police had booked 231 people for allegedly being under the
influence of the narcotic substances. Those who tested positive for
Ecstasy would have to appear before court and file fresh bail pleas.

According to the official, 13 drug peddlers were arrested for selling
the narcotic substances. The items seized comprised 249 gm of charas
(Rs 15,000), 88 Ecstasy pills (Rs 88,000), 8.5 ml of LSD (Rs 8.5
lakh), 13 gm of ganja (Rs 100) and blotting paper.

"Those who tested positive could voluntarily choose to undergo
de-addiction and rehabilitation or face a maximum jail sentence of one
year," Nangre-Patil said.

Drug Check:

DCP Vishwas Nangre-Patil said MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine)
is more commonly known as Ecstasy. Its possession, manufacture, or
sale result in criminal prosecution across the world. MDMA is one of
the most widely used illicit drugs in the world and is commonly used
by revellers at rave parties.
