PotAsMedicine Backers Lobby Lawmakers

(SALEM) Oregon may be the next state to make
marijuana acceptable for medical use. Backers of the idea
are lobbying the legislature to put the issue before
voters. At a Salem news conference, pot proponents said
they want only small changes in present law... to make the
drug available in specific situations. California and
Arizona voters have already approved similar plans. Oregon
supporters say if the legislature fails to make it a ballot
issue, they'll mount an effort for an initiative.
