A police statement said the crimebusting operation in the Tugela Ferry area
also netted 14 firearms, including two AK47 assault rifles, but no suspects
were caught because they saw police coming across the rugged landscape and
fled.
Economists say marijuana, although illegal, is a big contributor to incomes
in some of the poorest and remotest parts of the country.
