I write regarding your story July 22, Regulate tools for growing
marijuana - RCMP. Once again Canadian law enforcement shows its
willingness to ignore the rights of Canadians in order to make their
job easier.

Yes, it is true that basins, hoses, pipes, pumps and lamps are used in
hydroponic marijuana growing operations. However, it is also true that
any and all of these components are used in legitimate applications
such as aquariums, outdoor lighting and the upkeep of exotic birds, as
well as legitimate hydroponic operations.

The implementation of a registration system for "hydroponic equipment"
would be a costly, inefficient, and invasive waste of time.
Marijuana growers would simply circumvent the system leaving innocent
hobbyists to deal with the knocks on the door in the middle of the
night.
