MARIJUANA MESSES WITH PEOPLE'S MINDS

Regarding Morris Dalla Costa's column, Change in marijuana laws inevitable
(Aug. 16).

He should wake up. This is the '90's, not the '60's.

I suppose Morris has not seen all the "Say No" campaigns lately. Or been
around a school, where drugs will not be tolerated in this society.
Today's youth are our future and they have enough problems without drugs
(marijuana) making things worse. The grownups who are still saying that
marijuana is OK and are just smoking it casually are nothing short of
selfish and selfcentred.

Saying that smoking a joint won't affect you is ludicrous. Marijuana is
nothing but a cheap buzz and a way for idiots to say they're cool, while
frying their brains out.

Marijuana screws up more people than can be counted because it messes up
your mind. Users are more likely be low achievers in schools, moody, and
have high absenteeism in both school and at work. It steals people's
selfconfidence and robs their selfesteem in return for a few moments of
delusions.

As far as Londoner Chris Clay goes, enough. He got caught, charged and
convicted. If society were to legalize marijuana, what about all the other
lovely drugs that go along with it? There would be a Clay crying for
hashish and another for oil.
