COSTLIER SMOKES CALLED INSUFFICIENT DETERRENT
Raising the price of cigarettes $1.50 a pack would reduce teen smoking
only if combined with other antismoking measures, House subcommittee
members were told Tuesday.
"There is no single magic bullet,"DePaul University psychology Professor
Leonard Jason told the House Commerce subcommittee.
Several members of Congress have introduced bills that would raise prices
$1.50 a pack.
