My column on the medical use of marijuana triggered a flood of
letters, almost all of them critical. Those published in Sunday's
Commentary section summarized the tone of most of the e-mail I received.

Some readers wanted to know my source of information on tumor growth,
tar contained in marijuana cigarettes, immune suppressors and risk of
heart attack.

The source is Steven Dubinett, head of the Jonsson Cancer Center at
the University of California at Los Angeles. He was quoted on these
issues by reporter Andre Picard in the Toronto Globe and Mail.
