WHICH OF THESE THINGS IS NOT LIKE THE OTHER?

Ironically, at about the same time New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson
accepted an invitation to speak about drug legalization at a "shadow
convention," U.S. Sen. Pete Domenici, R-N.M., announced the
appropriation of $1.28 million in federal funds from the U.S. Justice
Department to aid drug courts throughout the state.

These are two glaring examples of how government addresses a problem -
one side advocates the dangerous and illogical stance of drug
legalization while the other supports a proactive stance to a possible
solution. Johnson was invited to speak on "the failed war on drugs" by
syndicated columnist Arianna Huffington. A "shadow convention" is seen
as an alternative to the Republican and Democratic national
conventions.

Thanks to the federal appropriations, state drug courts will receive
funding to place drug offenders in treatment following their arrest.
In addition, the funds will be used to ease the overcrowding of drug
court dockets.

Although the differing policies are endorsed and supported by
Republicans, the residents of the Land of Enchantment should decide
which option is an appropriate recommendation for dealing with drug
abuse. Considering all aspects, the choice is not that difficult.
