CANADA: WELFARE DRUG TESTING
Drug testing will be mandatory next year for welfare recipients in
Ontario, Canada's most populous province, the Conservative provincial
government has announced. The testing policy, a first for a Canadian
province, will be carried out in order to identify and treat addicts,
with the goal of getting them into the work force, said John Baird,
the province's community and social services minister.
